
“When a Last Witch Hunter comes out and it doesn’t destroy the box office you, under the old thinking, would go, ‘Well, maybe I should focus on something else.’ But nowadays what’s fascinating is that movies find you somehow,” Diesel explained.

Now, Diesel is confirming that work has begun on a sequel, telling Collider that Lionsgate is looking at writers.

While Diesel has previously noted that the studio had already expressed interest in him reprising the role for a potential sequel, he fanned the flames late last year when he teased the possibilities of a followup. In 2015, Vin Diesel battled a coven of witches in Lionsgate’s The Last Witch Hunter, which didn’t exactly light up the box office, taking in $146 million worldwide on a $90 million reported budget.
